Chad Lines
Watercolor, goache, watercolor pencil, and pencil on Arches paper
This painting was derived from satellite imagery of the desert in Chad. Enchanted by the rich umbers and oranges of this landscape, I set out to reinterpret the imagery with successive layers of watercolor, pencil, watercolor pencil and finally goache, which has more opacity than watercolor and can be used to build and cover up what is underneath.
